Megan Williams

Senior Paralegal, Workers’ Compensation & Personal Injury

Megan joined the BJM Law Family in January 2021. She was hired having recently graduated with honors from the University of Hartford, where she was a member of the Lamda Epsilon Chi National Honor Society for Paralegal and Legal Studies. Obtaining her American Bar Association Paralegal Certificate with distinction in December 2020, she also completed a legal internship at a Title IV bankruptcy law firm. Megan started at BJM Law as a Paralegal for the Workers’ Compensation department, where she thrived and was ultimately promoted to the department’s Senior Paralegal.

Megan understands firsthand the hardships inherent to personal injury, having undergone multiple orthopedic surgeries to resolve injuries sustained as a result of her active lifestyle and interest in high impact sports. These same injuries ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in the legal field because she wanted to help the wrongly injured along the arduous path to recovery. Navigating medical systems, insurance systems, and financial insecurities was already ingrained by her lived experiences. Now also armed with the tools gained from BJM Law, Megan has become a fierce advocate for the injured.

Megan’s affinity for the legal community grew from a young age, raiding her grandmother’s bookshelves for anything involving true crime and the law. Sparking a deep love for literature, she pursued obtained a bachelor’s degree in English, May 2018 from Southern Connecticut State University. During her time at SCSU, Megan was inducted into Delta Phi Epsilon, a sorority founded on March 17, 1917, at New York University Law School, an origin Megan admired and an organization which inspired her to hold leadership positions, including Sisterhood Coordinator and Secretary of Greek Life Counsel.

Megan also volunteered countless hours giving back to the New Haven community at service events. She fundraised for charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders and hosted multiple Red Cross Blood Drives. After graduating from SCSU, Megan dove headfirst into athletics, working as a certified educator and supervisor in the ski and snowboard community.  Unfortunately, she experienced a high impact fall in April 2019, severing her ACL and changing the course of her life by inspiring the journey which led her to BJM Law, for which she could not be more grateful.

Megan’s experiences with injuries left their mark, leaving behind surgical scars and fears of reinjury, but she persevered, finding her passion at BJM Law. Despite her history of injuries, Megan’s love for adventure (and adrenaline) remains strong. In her spare time, Megan still enjoys decompressing outdoors: skiing/snowboarding, hiking/backpacking, camping, birdwatching, and enjoying the backyard with her dog.
