Sandy was born in Bronx, NY and moved to Waterbury in 1986 where she attended John F. Kennedy High School and graduated in 1990. She married her high school sweetheart at 17 years old and has been married for 29 years. She currently resides in Waterbury with her husband and her dog Roxy.
Sandy was the first college student in her family and was accepted into Conncap program at NVCC in 2000 where she received Most Outstanding Student Award. She was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Scholastic Order as well as a member of Alpha Beta Gamma Honor Society in 2002. She graduated from NVCC with an Associates Degree in Legal Studies and Human Services. Sandy continued her education at Quinnipiac University and graduated in 2008 with B.A. in Legal Studies. Attending Law School is a goal Sandy intends to reach.
Sandy is very active in the community. She has accomplished a lot over the past few years. She currently serves as an Alderwoman for the City of Waterbury (since 2015) She is an aldermanic liaison for the Department of Public Health and Silas Bronson Library. Currently, she is a board member of the South End Neighborhood Association, Waterbury Neighborhood Council, CT Hispanic Democratic Caucus, NAACP, and co-chair of the Democratic Town Committee. In her free time, which she doesn’t have much of, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Sandy also loves attending car shows with her husband. She is an avid movie lover and loves to relax traveling on cruises to any destination.
