Alissa has been employed with BJM LAW for over nine years. Beginning as a receptionist, she quickly moved through the ranks at the firm, finding her home as a paralegal in the Workers’ Compensation Department. Quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, co-worker or client, her drive to go above and beyond was noticed. Within a few short years Alissa was promoted to Supervisor of the Workers’ Compensation Division. Several years later, she was promoted again and is currently the Director of the Workers’ Compensation Division. Alissa is deeply passionate about her work and knows she was the right choice for the position.
The knowledge she has gained over the years makes her a valuable asset to the team. Alissa always finds time to help clients and staff alike. She has tasked herself as the “go to gal” in the Workers’ Compensation Department, ensuring that her team does the best job they can, teaching them tricks of the trade along the way.
Alissa currently resides in Torrington. She graduated from Watertown High School in 2003, an esteemed member of the Honor Society. After graduation she attended The University of New Haven, majoring in forensic science. During her years there she came to realize she truly enjoyed the law behind the forensics, rather than the science behind it all. Accordingly, she transferred colleges and began attending Western CT State University, with a major in Justice and Law Administration. Making the switch and changing majors was one of the best decisions she has ever made, as she now truly enjoys what she does every day.
Additionally, she is a first degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, and acted as an instructor in the Town of Plymouth for over four years.
In her spare time, Alissa enjoys being outdoors with friends and family. From hiking to biking to kayaking and even snowmobiling, she loves to be active. Camping is her favorite pastime and she makes it a point to take several trips to remote campgrounds during the warmer months. Alissa also loves to play volleyball, and she does so year-round, on two separate recreational leagues. Lastly, on a more exciting front, she is recently married to her wonderful and loving husband and the two are hoping to start a family soon.
