Matt was born in Derby and was raised in Bethany. He is a graduate of Hopkins School in New Haven. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Colgate University in central New York in 2001. While attending Colgate, he earned the prestigious Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. Thereafter, Matt graduated from the Syracuse University College of Law in 2004 with a specialization in family law and social policy.
Matt began his legal career with Brian Mongelluzzo in early 2005. He then worked for a small firm in Wolcott, where he developed and refined his personal injury practice. He re-joined the Law Offices of Brian J. Mongelluzzo in 2013. Thrilled to be “home”, Matt is excited to once again be working with a pioneer of legal representation in Connecticut.
Matt is a long-standing member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. During his first year as a member of the Waterbury Bar Association in 2005, he was elected to the Board of Directors, and has served as Treasurer, Vice-President, and President. He was nationally recognized by Super Lawyers as a Workers’ Compensation Rising Star from 2010-2015 and also recently named as a Rising Star in Personal Injury – General: Plaintiff, as well as being admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, bringing the BJM Law reputation and tradition of excellence to our nation’s capital.
Matt lives in Cheshire with his wife, son, and daughter. In his leisure time, he enjoys maple sugaring, traveling, reading, and home improvement projects.
